If you read the reviews from golf players who have actually purchased the club you will quickly realize that there is a lot going for the PGX and golfers are reaching out to us wanting to know more and just how well this golf driver performs on the fairway.

Is the club best suited to golf beginners? or is there more appeal to the serious golfer from the Pinemeadow brand?

Pinemeadow PGX Offset Driver (Men's, Right Hand, Graphite, Regular)

We are of the opinion that the PGX driver is more than just a cheap driver. There we have said it.

You could be forgiven if your first thought when you saw the cheap price tag is that there is no way I’m going to use this club.

But there is definitely something about this club that appeals not just to golfing newbies but also golfers who play to a decent handicap and wanting a viable alternative to add to their golf bag.

One of the reasons why the price is so low is because Pinemeadow is an independent golf manufacturer that specializes in quality golf clubs that are both affordable and built to high standards.

Since the introduction of the PGX Offset Driver to the golfing market, this particular club has gone from strength to strength and is one of the best selling budget drivers out there so we thought we conduct our own dedicated review of the club and see if it lives up to the hype.

If you are new to golf then this club is absolutely ideal for you.

Why not start your new golfing experience with a club that you trust and enjoy without breaking the bank?

It makes perfect sense to try out the Pinemeadow PGX Offset Driver down your local driving range and we think you will like some really cool features like the big 460cc clubhead, anti-slice technology and great design.

On top of this, there is a big sweet spot and low CG (center of gravity) on the clubhead that will instantly appeal to slicers and hookers of the golf ball.

The offset design of the club is designed to help you hit the ball straighter.

Features & Performance

As we mentioned in our introduction, the PGX is no gimmick and has proven to be extremely popular not just because of the low price point.

But the real reason is the features and performance off the tee that set this driver apart from its rivals.

You can literally go through the whole spec of this club and find it difficult to criticize any of the materials used. Let’s go through the clubhead, shaft and grip of the PGX Driver in more detail…

Clubhead

Let’s make one point clear. This clubhead is not made from expensive titanium that you see on premier drivers from brands like TaylorMade, Ping and Callaway – does it matter?

Golfers may also like:  Swingless Golf Clubs (Are No Swing Clubs Even Legal?)

Well, that depends if you prefer to swing with a heavy-headed club and are prepared to sacrifice around 15 yards of total driving yards off the tee for a trade-off of around a $450 saving on your golfing budget.

Sounds good right?

Pinemeadow PGX Offset Driver (Men's, Right Hand, Graphite, Regular)

The PGX Offset Driver has an alloy clubhead which is a common material used in cheaper golf clubs.

Alloy is heavier than titanium and although the PGX Offset Driver is not too heavy you can definitely notice when you swing the club that it is very top-heavy and biased towards the clubhead.

If your budget can stretch a little further and you prefer a lighter driver then check out our TaylorMade RBZ Black Driver review.

It is around $50 more but is more lightweight and forgiving than the PGX.

That being said, for most golfers swinging a 200g driver is not an issue and when you connect the clubhead on to the golf ball, the energy release and weight transference are noticeable.

We were very impressed with the low center of gravity this club outputs – a big thumbs up to the engineers and design team at Pinemeadow!

Also, the clubhead is offset – this means the golf face is set back further which is suppose to help you hit the ball straighter and correct slicing of the ball.

If you have a persistent problem with not hitting the ball straight when teeing off then you should seriously consider using this club down at the driving range.

The loft angle of the PGX Driver is 10.5 degrees, standard for a driver.

Clubhead performance: Overall, the clubhead rates highly and fits very well into the shaft of the club. Despite being a little top-heavy, the head connects with the golf ball well and there is a good sound to the club on impact with the ball.

The offset shape helps to hit the ball straighter and the design of the clubhead is very modern.

It looks like a $300 driver, not a budget model. Finally, there is a stylish cover to help protect the club from damage.

Shaft

To counterbalance the heavy clubhead, Pinemeadow has introduced a graphite shaft on there #1 selling budget driver.

Graphite shafts are lightweight and perfectly suited to golfers who need a bigger tolerance on their golf swing and allow for more forgiveness when driving the ball.

Included on their PGX driver is the Superfly White Graphite shaft that weighs just 78g.

Pinemeadow PGX Offset Driver (Men's, Right Hand, Graphite, Regular)

If you are interested in the flex rating of the shaft, then as standard the club is shipped with a normal flex.

This is sensible because the club is designed to benefit the average Joe golfer or a beginner who doesn’t know or care about flex ratings.

With a mid-high launch angle, a shaft is a good option for seniors or ladies too as the flex certainly helps for golfers with a slower swing.

Slower swing players should also take a serious look at the golf balls they are using. Our top-rated balls for senior players detail our best balls for swing speeds under 75MPH.

Shaft performance: The Superfly White Graphite shaft is by no means the worst on the market. It’s much better than a steel equivalent and the normal flex rating helps to drive the shaft quicker through the air.

It fits seamlessly into the clubhead and has a nice look about it.

All in all, a decent component when you consider the whole club costs less than $75.

Grip

Not really much to say about the grip.

It’s cheap and cheerful but does the job perfectly well.

Some online comments mention that the rubber is very thin so be aware that you could be replacing the grip sooner than later on this club.

Normally, a grip would last around 30-50 rounds of 18 hole golf but on this club, you should estimate a grip replacement time of around 6 months or 30 rounds.

Grip performance: A standard Pinemeadow rubber grip with a core size of 0.58 and weighs just 54g. If you have bigger hands you might want to get a thicker grip but it’s nit-picking really.

Who Should Use this Golf Club?

The positives far outweigh the negatives on the PGX.

Firstly, the very low price point makes this golf driver very affordable to both golfers on a budget and newcomers to this wonderful (but addictive) sport.

It’s truly hard to believe that you get so much for your money – a good quality 460CC head in matt black finish, a good quality shaft made from graphite, and a decent grip to complete the look.

Pinemeadow PGX Offset Driver (Men's, Right Hand, Graphite, Regular)

Golfers who have a recurring slice problem should look to the PGX offset golf driver as a possible solution.

The anti-slice tech pushes the clubface a little further back so you are “later on the drive”.

Finally, with the normal flex rating on the graphite shaft, this club would be beneficial to older players and those who have a swing of below 85MPH.

The club is forgiving and low CG helps to project the ball, flatter and further through the air.

Also, if you have suffered from minor hand, wrist or shoulder injuries then the forgiving shaft might be more be beneficial to you.

FAQs

Question: Is this club just a cheap knockoff?
Answer: Pinemeadow is a legit brand with a very good reputation for making good quality golf clubs at low prices. Seriously, check out the online reviews from REAL buyers of this golf club.

Question: Is this club legal?
Answer: Yes, all the technical specifications of the PGX driver pass PGA standards and you can use this club on your local golf course. If you are unsure then you can check with support staff @ Pinemeadow.

Question: Can I use this club on the grass?
Answer: No, not really. The PGX Offset Golf Driver is designed to be used off the tee and not the turf. If you’re looking for a long iron replacement then hybrids are a good alternative.

Question: Is this club right for my height?
Answer: As long as your not under 5 foot tall and over 6″6″ then this club which measures 45 inches should be the right length for you. As always, when your next at your local golf shop, ask the resident pro to give you a club size fitting. They are 100% worth it and you would be surprised at how much difference this makes in improving your golf swing.

Question: How far I can drive off the tee with this club?
Answer: Some players claim that a 240-yard drive is possible.

This is a budget club so expect to knock off at least 15 yards from your total distance comparable to a premium golf driver costing around $400-$500.

It has solid features and a good reputation for being reliable in all types of weather conditions.

Question: I keep slicing my drives, does the PGX Offset Driver help to correct this?
Answer: The anti-slice technology implemented into the club is designed to help keep the clubhead “square” on impact thus helping drives to become straighter and less prone to fly off at an angle.

Viable Alternatives

If this club is not right for you but are still interested in looking for a cheap golf driver for a beginner or maybe want to try out a new club then what else is there available on the market right now?

We have already mentioned the RBZ Black Driver as a good driver.

But if the price is your over-riding criteria then a very good, cheap golf driver with good reviews is the Bullet Golf B52 Bomber 500cc driver.

It has a good, graphite shaft with uniflex rating and looks great in red/silver finish.

Our Verdict

As you can probably tell on this PGX Offset Driver review we have nothing but praise for this golf club as long as place the product in its right category which is a high-performance budget golf driver.

It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles you would come to expect from the best drivers in the US right now.

For example, there is no adjustable loft setting or customizable weights for custom head setup but for newcomers and people who just want a simple driver that gets them up and down the fairway at good speed and distance then this club is a good choice.

It costs less than 10 premium drivers and you get real value for both your golf shots and in your wallet.

Another thing we want to mention is the super customer service from Pinemeadow.

They are very good at dealing with questions and are very responsive to customer ideas, order questions and feedback on their products.
